I am an Assistant Professor in the Software Engineering Research Group, Department of Software Technology of the Delft University of Technology. I am a member of ACM and IEEE. Download a copy of my CV.

My research interests are in software engineering with focus on:

  • Software Evolution and Quality Analysis My activities in this research area concern methodologies and techniques to mine and visualize the data in software repositories for detecting shortcomings in the implementation, design, and evolution of large complex software systems. I have led the Evolizer project at s.e.a.l., University of Zurich and performed a number of empirical studies on failure prediction. A first release of the DA4Java Eclipse plugin for analyzing Java source code is available for download.
  • Global Distributed Software Engineering My interests in this area are in investigating the collaboration and communication structure of engineers in (globally distributed) software projects and analyzing its effects on software quality and reliability. Together with Microsoft Research in Redmond I performed an empirical study with Windows Vista problem report data whose results have been presented at FSE 2008 (feel free to download a copy of the paper).
